Bill Anderson Biography

Bill Anderson is one of Country music's most successful songwriters. He also had a long run as a hit-making artist, making up in heart what he lacked in voice. In the late '50s Bill Anderson signed with Decca Records, and in 1959 he had his first chart record, "That's What It's Like To Be Lonesome," which barely fell short of the Top Ten. After that it was hit after hit for more than two decades, including "Mama Sang A Song," "Still," "I Get The Fever," "My Life," and "World Of Make Believe," all #1 hits. And still more great songs - "Po Folks," "8 X 10," "I Love You Drops," "Wild Weekend," "Happy State Of Mind," "If You Can Live With It." In the early '80s Bill Anderson had some success with disco-flavored Country and also ventured into the world of hosting TV shows. The '90s found Bill back in the songwriting world, writing hit songs for other artists while continuing his long run as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Bill Anderson Discography
